Cortana For iOS Begins Rolling Out To Testers

Microsoft has now fulfilled the promise that it would roll out a beta version of its Cortana personal assistant to users of iOS devices. This week, a small amount of testers who signed up to trial the new app were notified that the iOS version of Cortana was available. The beta version offers voice-powered assistance, as well as help with managing your schedule, reminders and alarms, plus the ability to track items such as flights, packages, stocks, scores and more.

The Android version was previously made available for testing this year.

In early November, Microsoft announced its plans to begin testing Cortana on iOS. There was a survey that asked users about their devices, and whether or not they also used the app on a Windows 10 PC. Microsoft was most likely looking for users planning to test the app cross-platform, which Microsoft’s ability to tie together iPhones and PCs is one of its main benefits.

The original survey indicated that Cortana for iOS would be available to those in the U.S. and China, but the survey itself was aimed at potential U.S. testers.
